The 2011 MTV Video Music Awards will include a tribute to pop star Britney Spears, and now one source claims that Katy Perry, Kesha and Lady Gaga will be a part of the all-star salute.
According to DigitalSpy, TV producer and casting director Jonathan Woodbeck (‘The Real World,’ ‘Top Chef’) has tweeted his prediction for the show. “If this lineup is legit (which I’m told it is) the tribute to Britney at the VMAs is gonna be insanely EPIC!!,” he wrote along with a list of pop stars who are reportedly performing an unforgettable medley.
According to Woodbeck, the mash-up will include Selena Gomez singing ‘…Baby One More Time’; Perry performing ‘Oops!…I Did It Again’; Janet Jackson fronting ‘I’m a Slave 4 U’; Demi Lovato sampling ‘Toxic’; Kesha and Nicki Minaj performing ‘Gimme More’; Gaga singing ‘Circus’; and last, but not least, Spears closing things out with ‘Hold It Against Me’/'I Wanna Go.’ Madonna will reportedly take the stage after the performance to present Spears with a ‘Lifetime Achievement’ award.
While this mega-medley would be a dream come true, MTV has neither confirmed nor denied the reports. The annual awards show has pulled off some unbelievable stunts in the past, so this A-list lineup isn’t out of the realm of possibility, but we’re still waiting for the final word from the network before we start jumping for joy.
The 2011 MTV Video Music Awards will air live from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday, Aug. 28 at 9PM ET/PT on MTV and MTV.com.

Alice Cooper recently revealed that he cast Kesha as the Devil in his new song, ‘What Baby Wants,’ and now a new clip showcases the pop star’s wicked vocals on the ‘Welcome 2 My Nightmare’ track.
“I’m gonna drain your veins and bathe in your blood,” the 24-year-old sings. The clip gives fans a sneak peek into a split verse and chorus from the rock duet.
The collaboration isn’t entirely out of left field. Cooper tells Ultimate Classic Rock, “Kesha’s an old friend of mine. When she was in London, I got up and did a song with her. She actually plays the Devil in this thing.”
The song is a conversation between the two stars in which Cooper tries to outwit his adversary. “When she decides that it’s time for her to get paid — you know, there’s always that ‘I need your soul now’ kind of moment — and I’m trying to talk my way out of it, she goes ‘Oh no no no, what baby wants, baby gets.’ That’s the song — ‘What Baby Wants.’ I wrote it with her and Bob Ezrin and the song is very cool.”
The idea for Cooper’s soon-to-be-released album came about shortly after the thirtieth anniversary of 1975′s ‘Welcome to My Nightmare.’ ‘Welcome 2 My Nightmare’ is the rocker’s 19th solo LP, arriving on Sept. 13.

Kesha fans shouldn’t get too excited about a new album just yet. Producer Dr. Luke has confirmed on his official Twitter account that Kesha won’t be releasing a new album until the Spring of 2012.
Dr. Luke, who has produced tracks like ‘Tik Tok,’ ‘We R Who We R’ and ‘Your Love Is My Drug’ for Kesha, said a new album can be expected from the songstress close to May of next year. When asked “are we gunna [sic] get a new Kesha album soon?” by a Kesha fan over Twitter, Dr. Luke replied, “not this year…. close to may….”
Even though fans have to wait until May 2012 for new songs from the ‘Cannibal’ queen, Kesha will be featured on Alice Cooper‘s upcoming album on the song ‘What Baby Wants,’ where her voice is supposed to be that of the devil’s.
A few months back, Kesha revealed that her next album will be called ‘Spandex on the Distant Horizon’ to Beatweek Magazine. While it may sound ridiculous, it’s an appropriate title for a girl whose style is a mix between a hipster, a rave kid, and a trailer-park chick. “Maybe it will be rock and roll or maybe it will be something else,” Kesha tells Beatweek of her upcoming album. “It could end up being a spoken word record or polka death metal.”
We wonder if the leaked track ‘Shots on the Hood of My Car‘ will appear on the upcoming record. Too bad we will have to wait until next May to see!

Kesha is getting all warm and fuzzy, not to mention that she’s being incredibly charitable with her time and using her fame for good! The ‘Sleazy’ singer has been christened the first-ever Humane Society International Global Ambassador. Her mission as the global ambassador? To help HSI promote respect, protection, and compassion for animals around the world. We applaud, salute and support the ‘Tik Tok’ singer in her mission and her goals.
In a statement, Kesha, whose debut album is called ‘Animal,’ declared: “I am honored to be the first HSI Global Ambassador because my music is inspired by the freedom and primal beauty of animals and the natural world. I take this opportunity incredibly seriously because we are ALL animals. One of the main underlying sentiments of my music is to respect all living creatures just as they are. I believe that together, we can change laws that allow innocent animals to be unjustly mistreated and abused all over the world.”
HSI vice president Kitty Block echoed Kesha’s sentiments, saying, “We believe compassion for animals is a basic human condition that needs to be encouraged and celebrated. Kesha, with her passion for animals and international recognition is in a unique position to help us create a worldwide culture of compassion for animals.”
Kesha’s first order of business in her new role is to get fans to sign HIS’s Cruel-Free 2012 petition.
The petition has a goal of making sure the EU (European Union) honors its commitment to ban the sale of all cosmetics tested on animals by 2013, making the EU the world’s first cruelty-free zone. The move would force cosmetics companies around the world, including in the US, to stop the ugly business of animal testing or have their products removed from store shelves in the EU. The “Cruelty-Free 2013 petition” is here if you want to affix your John Hancock to it and help end animal cruelty in cosmetic labs.

Kesha is “the devil in a dress” on her latest song, ‘What Baby Wants,’ a collaboration with classic rocker Alice Cooper, one of her favorite rock singers.
‘What Baby Wants’ features an outdated pop-rock sound reminiscent of Cooper’s 1989 album ‘Trash,’ which provided his last big hits, ‘Poison’ and ‘House of Fire.’ We’ll give Cooper the benefit of the doubt and assume he’s going for a throwback vibe rather than being 20 years behind the times, although we’re honestly not so sure.
As we noted in our preview of the song, Kesha plays a demonic entity who has come to take his soul. That role isn’t a huge stretch for the dance-pop singer, who frequently pretends to drink blood from a beating heart during live performances of her song ‘Cannibal,’ a song in which she promises to “pull a Jeffrey Dahmer.”
Kesha appears during the second verse and alternates lines with Cooper, who tries to stand up to her: “I got a pretty face / Yeah, but I’ve seen what’s hiding underneath / You like my pretty mouth / But you got razor blades instead of teeth / And now it’s too, too late for you / Oh yeah? Tell me what you’re gonna do / I’m gonna drain your veins and bathe in your blood / Honey, I’ve seen worse than you.”
The novelty aspect of seeing Kesha pair up with the man she refers to as “Dad” is intriguing, but that’s all the track ends up being, a novelty. ‘What Baby Wants’ will appear on Cooper’s album ‘Welcome 2 My Nightmare,’ a sequel to his similarly-titled classic record from 1975.
Kesha is just the co-star here, but the song could be a preview of the type of music we can expect to hear on her next album, which she promises will be ’70s-influenced, “balls-out, irreverent rock and roll.”

Kesha doesn’t front when it comes to her support of animal rights. The newly appointed Human Society International global ambassador is taking her love of animals and her killer fashion sense a step further by designing a faux fur collection.
Wenn reports that the singer, whose debut album is named ‘Animal,’ will put together a range of faux fur items. She said, “My first album was called ‘Animal’ and I’m also the global ambassador for the Humane Society International, so leopard print is a recurring theme in my look, which I like to wear because it brings out the animal inside.” She is Kesha, hear her roar!
She continued, “Right now I’m in the process of designing a faux fur collection, which would be, obviously, animal friendly.” We bet it would be unisex, too, so all Kesha fans, male and female, would dig her designs and likely wear them, especially to her concerts.
There’s no details on when the line will launch, what it will be called or what the range of items will include. We’re guessing jackets and accessories, infused with Kesha’s signature, wild child, out there style. That’d be a safe bet.

Kesha released ‘Backstabber’ on her 2010 debut, ‘Animal,’ and now a video for the song, which had been rumored to exist, has leaked on the Web.
Information about the clip is scarce, but we’re guessing the song was a single contender at one point, calling for the production. However, when that idea was scrapped, so was the video. Photos from the shoot surfaced in May, but the video for the song had yet to be unearthed until now.
‘Backstabber’ shows Kesha retaliating against an antagonizer, who steals her ride while she’s using a pay phone. The styling and choreography of the video shows the pop star in all her glam glory, and offers a yesteryear glimpse at the 24-year-old singer.
Kesha’s meteoric fame was largely due to singles like ‘Tik Tok,’ ‘Blah Blah Blah’ and ‘Your Love Is My Drug,’ which helped the singer’s debut hit platinum-selling status. Since then, the Nashville native has released a remix record and EP called ‘Cannibal,’ which was certified gold in the U.S.
Kesha is scheduled to perform in San Paolo, Brazil on Sept. 28, one night before appearing at the Rock in Rio festival on Sept. 29. She is currently working on her sophomore album, which is reportedly due out in May.

It looks like Kesha has been bitten by the fashion bug. Not only is the pop star working on a collection of faux fur items, but she has now teamed up with Baby-G to design a new line of watches.
The ‘Blow’ singer’s Baby-G accessories will come in two limited edition varieties — a red, white, and blue watch with her signature in gold and a black square-faced watch with a leopard pattern. “In creating my red, white and blue watch, I was obviously inspired by the American flag because it’s a recurring theme in my aesthetic but also represents freedom of speech, a right I passionately exercise in my life and in my music,” she said.
“Leopard print is another recurring theme in my look, which I like to wear because it brings out my animal inside,” she added about her designs. “I hope when people wear my watches they’re reminded to express themselves always and never lose the animal inside themselves.”
The singer was first tapped to be a designer and brand ambassador for Baby-G in August 2010. “I think the Baby-G brand is amazing it’s stylish, innovative, durable and affordable,” she explained in a press release at the time. “The bright colors and metallic finishes really compliment my moods and personality. I have some fun ideas for my watches and I am so thrilled that I am the first worldwide female artist to be given the opportunity to design my very own Baby-G!”
Kesha wore a Baby-G watch in her 2010 ‘We R Who We R’ video. The company has been a longtime supporter of the star, calling her “the perfect blend of street, sport, glamour and edge.”
